Literature

Besides in our music and dance, our rich history is also very much alive in our native language “Papiamentu”. The Dutch colonizers, Brazilian Jewish settlers, and African slaves needed to communicate with each other, and thus together they gave birth to our own rich melodious language.

Although Dutch is the official language on Curaçao, Papiamentu is very strongly imbedded in our everyday life.

As we consider Papiamentu to be one of the pillars of our culture, and since our objective is also to improve and promote the use of our native language, we offer different courses.
